Goodbye 2021, Hello 2022. Whew!

Just guessing but I imagine all of us are ready to say goodbye to 2021.

So, rather than focus on old/bad news, I offer you one science topic and one hilarious recounting of "Santaland Diaries". Let me know what you think.

James Webb Telescope

Extraordinary was the successful launch of the James Webb Telescope on Christmas Day from the Guiana Space Centre. It's on its way to what will become its orbiting destination. It's not home-free yet, so keep your fingers crossed and think good thoughts.

It has been an international effort involving NASA, the European Space and Canadian Space Agencies, and many talented women and men--hats off to everyone involved.

Here's a live stream if you want up-to-the-minute information: James Webb Tracker

And now for a bit of humor...

I think it was the Christmas holiday 2007. I was listening to NPR's Morning Edition eawhen I first heard David Sedaris', "Santaland Diaries". I about fell out of my chair laughing. You may have already heard it and may, as I have, listened and laughed through it multiple times. If you haven't heard it, I recommend it to you. The original, longer version is available on This American Life and you can listen to it here.

Wishing you peace, lots of laughter, and good health in 2022!
