I've been a fan and supporter of the Freakonomics podcast for several years now, sharing various episodes with family and friends. The goal: spreading the word about this wonderful resource and great content.
Today I'm including two recent episodes--one fun and one serious topic--that I highly recommend; the first is a Freakonomics podcast, and the second, is a "People I (Mostly) Admire" podcast which is a Freakonomics production.
Recommendation #1 for my artist friends
“A Fascinating, Sexy, Intellectually Compelling, Unregulated Global Market.” (Ep. 484) is a comprehensive, eye-opening dissection of the art market and the various players, businesses and institutions involved. I just listened to episodes 1 and 2 and I am looking forward to episode #3. Highly recommended. “I’ve Been Working My Ass Off for You to Make that Profit?” (Ep. 485)

Recommendation #2
A sobering but recommended listen, is "Episode 53, "The Simple Economics of Saving the Amazon Rainforest", which is hosted by Steve Levitt, an economist, University of Chicago faculty member, and host of the podcast "People I (Mostly) Admire"

The focus and content of this blog will probably zigzag across a broad landscape of topics, mostly about climate change, deforestation, energy and sustainability with a few fun, interesting, non-apocalyptic topics thrown in to lighten our psychic load. The thing that we can't ignore--and that many of you already know--is that science keeps telling us that we're really screwing up Mother Earth. The message: get involved, act however you can to lessen the impact of our carbon footprint. There are many online resources that we can use to help us calculate our carbon footprint, here are a few and the Youtube video includes a list of resources.

Apps
There are also a variety of apps that you can download and install on your phone, tablet or computer. If you have an apple product you can go to the App Store and search for a "carbon footprint calculator", which will display a variety of options.
